The Happy Wanderers Ski Club, is a family oriented Ski Club with a lodge in Thredbo Village, Australia’s premier alpine resort. The Wanderers as we are affectionately known is dedicated to providing members, their family and friends with affordable winter and summer accommodation in a comfortable friendly atmosphere in the Australian Snowy Mountains.

The Club’s founding members were bush walkers and their vision of a Ski Lodge came about following a bush walking trip to Kosciusko National Park in the late 1950s. The Lodge is one of the original Club Lodge’s in Thredbo having opened in the winter of 1961. It was designed and built by our founding members in a spirit of partnership and cooperation with a view to promoting year round alpine activities.

The Lodge is the focal point of the Wanderers, an incorporated association, a not for profit organisation voluntarily run by members. The lodge has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. We’ve modernised the facilities, while maintaining the original community atmosphere, to provide members and guests with a more comfortable stay.

Happy Wanderers Club embraces a family experience with everyone sharing the enjoyment of skiing and all year round alpine activities. The Club’s membership has grown with over 130 members from foundation members (now in their 90s) to fourth generation Wanderers. Membership is opened from time to time if you are interested in potential membership please contact our membership secretary at hwlmembers@gmail.com
